The Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales have issued a statement titled "Honouring Sunday".
(Here are key extracts)
"Our Lord Jesus invites to receive anew the gift of Sunday as the preeminent day, the day of the Resurrection, when the Church gathers to celebrate the Eucharist. ... Here we are nourished by Christ in his precious Body and Blood. This is our primary joy, for which there is no substitute, and from which we draw our strength."
"At this time, we recognise that for some people there may be certain factors which hinder attendance at Sunday Mass. The pandemic is clearly not over. ... As your bishops we recognise that these prevailing circumstances suggest that not everyone is yet in the position to fulfil the absolute duty to attend freely Sunday Mass. ... We now encourage all Catholics to look again at the patterns which they have formed in recent months with regard to going to Mass on Sundays. ... The Sunday Mass is the very heartbeat of the Church and of our personal life of faith."

Attention all Ministers (Communion, Readers and Welcomers)
To those who have subscribed to the Rota Unavailability Dates Email Process (to allow you to specify those masses you cannot attend) you will have received the email for the next period covering Christmas; please respond as quickly as possible.
For those who have not subscribed, it is always assumed you are available to attend ALL masses and thus you may be rostered to minister at a mass you will not be attending and for which you will need to seek a substitute. For the Christmas Masses at OLST, all Ministers are considered even if you only worship at English Martyrs.
If you do not wish to be considered then please either:
(a) send an email to 'olstsheffield.rota@btinternet.com' with the subject 'SUBSCRIBE' to allow you to specify your Unavailability Dates for the current and future Rotas; OR
(b) send an email to the same email address stating your Name, Minister Role(s) and the Christmas Masses
(3pm Christmas Eve Nativity, 5pm Christmas Eve Nativity, 10.00pm Christmas Eve Night, Christmas Day, Boxing Day {a Sunday}) you will be attending.

Our Parish Prayer Group has resumed in church on Wednesdays from 19.45—20.30pm.
Do join us if you wish during this time for Exposition, silent prayer, two short readings and prayers together for the parish at the end.

Our Lady and St Thomas is located south of Sheffield City centre on the A61 in the suburb of Woodseats. Parking outside of the Church on Sunday mornings is restricted to blue-badge holders and to 1 hour before 12.00 on other days. Nearby street and supermarket parking is available.

English Martyrs, Chapel of Ease, is located at the junction of the A621, 'Baslow Road', and 'The Crescent' in the village of Totley. There is a limited number of on-site parking spaces and there is local road-side parking.
